Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine is a Philadelphia native was born and raised there. Pam her mom is a former back-up singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was five years old, young, her father got job as curator at The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with majoring in vocal music. Sullivan began her singing career as a contralto children's choir, then after a couple of years, she joined the adult group. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was at first limited "I was doing solos in church . Someone wanted me to sign to an evangelical label when I was eleven but I wasn't ready to do that," she recalls. After that, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I had the opportunity to perform "Accept What God Allows" during It's Showtime At the Apollo. And the people were very enthusiastic. At the age 13 she performed along to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. When she was 15 she signed with Jive Records. They recorded an complete album, but it was not released. Sullivan was later dropped from the record label. Missy Elliott was her producer for several songs from the album she released her debut. One of them is "Backstabbers" of Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott wrote, is a one of the highlights of their collaboration.
