The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which is now known by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to her place in the "child prodigy" category. For a child of Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family members, those were not innate traits. Maureen was born in this cosy haven, August 17, 1920. Her family was her parents as well as family members. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons, her mother. She was a skilled contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and also owned part of the well-known Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the second FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen enjoyed playing sporting games in her youth and excelled in sports. This interest was combined with the natural ability to perform. The fact that she was awarded nearly every Feis prizes for her own nation's theatre and drama proved this. When she was in her 14th year she enrolled in at the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying the classical theater and operatic singing.
